Emergency Shelter

We offer an emergency family shelter that has 65 individual rooms. All of our families are referred to us through the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Supportive Housing central intake.  While obtaining housing is our top priority, we also encourage saving money – working with our families to dedicate funds to rent, furnishings and day-to-day living expenses once they leave our shelter.

Our family shelter provides homeless families with:

  • A warm, safe environment
  • Nutritious meals
  • Case management

Throughout the day, we have workshops to prepare families for independent living, including:

  • Parenting classes
  • Computer skills
  • Academic enrichment
  • and refresher courses
  • Life skills development
  • Employment services and training
  • Money management classes

In the evenings, we host exciting activities, such as:

  • Book Club
  • Yoga
  • Arts and crafts
  • Family movie night

Our professional social workers help families  develop individualized objectives, which are monitored regularly:

  • Financial goals
  • Housing goals
  • Education goals
  • Employment goals
