Our Educational programs

School Age Children

We strive to break the cycle of homelessness by working with schools, parents and kids to track and address attendance, academic performance and behavioral issues. Our Department of Education and Quality works in conjunction with the Philadelphia School District, public school officials and the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey to monitor the performance of grade school children and identify resources and interventions when they are struggling.

Bright Spaces Early Childhood Program

Our early childhood enrichment program is located onsite for infants and preschoolers. The program runs Monday-Friday from 9am to 3pm. Only parents and guardians who reside in the onsite shelter and participate in the Families Forward Philadelphia classes and workshops can use the Bright Spaces Program.

The Bright Spaces Program focuses on the following areas and curriculum:

  • Identification of early intervention services for young children
  • Reviewing age-appropriate milestones for infants, toddlers and preschoolers with parents
  • Providing an enriching environment for learning and discovery in early childhood
