Our emergency shelter for homeless families has 75 separate, private rooms for each family as well as a preschool center and our Student Enrichment center for elementary age school children. It provides safe and decent living quarters for families who have lost their own housing and is open and functional 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Throughout the day we offer workshops to enrich families’ lives and prepare them for independent living. These include parenting training, computer lab, academic enrichment & refresher courses, life skills training, employment services, and money management. In the evenings, participation is encouraged in organized and regular family activities. These include a book club, yoga, arts & crafts, aerobics, and family movie night. When necessary we refer families to outside agency programs.
Our professional staff of social workers also works with the families on developing individualized housing, healthcare, education, employment, and financial goals, which are regularly tracked and monitored.
